Welcome to Sanglier Wines
Sanglier Wines specialises in wines from the Languedoc region of the South of France. We deal direct with individual growers who supply high quality, distinctive wines that bring out the true capabilities of the terroir.
We deal with a select number of wines and growers instead of having vast number of wines on offer as we believe this enables us to ensure the quality and commitment of the wines and their producers. You will find red wine, white wine, rose wine, dessert wine, sparkling wine and our one deviation from the Languedoc - champagne.
Fantastic wines
The Languedoc has been somewhat overlooked in the UK and Ireland in recent years as suppliers and consumers have tended to focus on New World Wines and better known French wines such as Bordeaux and Burgundy.
However, huge changes have occurred in the Languedoc vineyards in recent years leading to the production of low yield, high quality wines which are well worth attention. Many innovative young wine growers have come to the area and others have left to undertake wine qualifications prior to returning to the family business, all with fantastic results.
Cutting out the middleman
Focusing on the one area enables Sanglier Wines to have a good knowledge of the area, the terroir, the grapes and the growers. It enables us to keep abreast of details regarding new developments in the area and new growers to the market.
Dealing direct we ensure that we pay the producer a fair price while cutting out the cost of middlemen and avoiding the marketing costs and overheads of a large company.
As such, you can be sure that you are paying a realistic cost for a quality wine. Our desire is to see Languedoc wines at the forefront of quality, innovative wines drunk in the UK and Ireland.
The Sanglier (Wild Boar) is common to the Languedoc region and while loved by hunters and meat eaters, they constantly prove a challenge to the vineyard owners and their fencing due to a love of grapes. As, like the Wild Boars, we have a passion for high quality grapes, Sanglier Wines seemed an appropriate name !
